Become a Voice for a Child in Crisis

At CASA of Placer, Yuba, and Sutter, we empower everyday people to make an extraordinary difference in the lives of children who have experienced abuse, neglect, or abandonment—and who now find themselves navigating the foster care system. These children face overwhelming challenges, from instability and uncertainty to the risk of being overlooked in the Juvenile Dependency or Delinquency Court systems.
This is where our Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) step in. CASAs are trained volunteers who become a lifeline for these vulnerable youth. They provide guidance, consistency, and a voice in courtrooms where critical decisions about a child’s future are made.
By building meaningful, one-on-one relationships, CASA volunteers ensure that no child feels invisible or forgotten. They advocate for the child’s best interests, helping to secure safe, permanent homes and brighter, more stable futures.
Become a CASA volunteer and help change the trajectory of a child’s life for the better. Every child deserves someone who will stand up for them—will it be you?

What does CASA do?

A judge appoints CASA volunteers to serve as the “eyes and ears of the court and the voice of the child.” They get to know the child and everyone involved in their life—caregivers, social workers, teachers, and attorneys—so they can make informed recommendations in the child’s best interest. CASAs advocate by facilitating services, investigating concerns, and monitoring the child’s well-being.

Each CASA stays with their assigned youth for the duration of the case, offering consistency, stability, and compassion, often being the one constant adult in that child’s life.

Why It Matters

Children with a consistent, caring adult are more likely to succeed in school, build healthy relationships, and envision a brighter future.

Research shows that youth with a CASA are more likely to:

Stay on track to graduate high school

Receive vital services in a timely manner

Higher permanency rates

Build long-term connections with loved ones

Stay out of the child welfare system

Report having higher levels of hope

Stay connected to our community through our newsletter, event invites, and the latest updates—all in one place.
