Volunteer

Ready to Make a Difference?

At CASA of Placer, Yuba, and Sutter, we offer many meaningful ways to volunteer—each vital to the children and families we serve.

Regardless of which program you choose to serve, all of our volunteers complete the same CASA training.

For questions, email volunteer@casaconnect.org or call 530-887-1006.

Ways to Get Involved

BECOME A CASA VOLUNTEER

CASAs create a life-changing connection by matching one committed adult with one child in crisis, offering stability, support, and a path toward healing.

Be the consistent, trusted adult in a child’s life. CASA volunteers are trained and appointed by the court to advocate for children who have experienced abuse or neglect.

CASA Volunteer Commitment

  • Minimum commitment of one hour per week for in-person visits with the youth for the length of the case
  • Initial 30 hours of training, both in-person and online
  • 12 hours of annual in-service training

All volunteers must:

  • Complete a Livescan fingerprint background check
  • Submit background check authorization
  • Agree to confidentiality and mandated reporting guidelines

Become a Be Bold Program Mentor

Mentors commit to:

  • A minimum of one hour per week in-person
  • Participation in bimonthly group activities that focus on life skills and social-emotional development
  • Advocacy and encouragement to help youth set and reach their personal goals

Our mentors don’t “fix” kids—they believe in them, guide them, and help them recognize their strength.

All volunteers must:

  • Complete a Livescan fingerprint background check
  • Submit background check authorization
  • Agree to confidentiality and mandated reporting guidelines

Become a K9s for Kids Volunteer

K9s 4 Kids volunteers and their certified dogs are scheduled based on program needs and their availability. The commitment includes:

  • A passion for helping children and sharing the therapeutic benefits of animal companionship
  • One hour commitment per month

Requirements

All dogs must:

  • Be certified through a Canine Good Citizenship Program (or equivalent)
  • Have a current dog license and rabies vaccination

All volunteers must:

  • Complete a Livescan fingerprint background check
  • Submit background check authorization
  • Agree to confidentiality and mandated reporting guidelines

Bring Comfort. Share Joy. Make a Difference.

If you and your certified dog would like to help children, feel love and connection during their most difficult moments, we’d love to hear from you.
